Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris, born on the 20th of October 1964 was a prominent American politician and lawyer. She is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female to be elected vice president, and is also the most powerful female officer in American history. As a part of the Democratic Party, she previously served as attorney general for California from 2011 to 2017 and also as an United States senator representing California from 2017 to 2021. Harris was born in Oakland, California, Harris graduated from Howard University and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. She started her career with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Then she was recruited to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. The office was named San Francisco district attorney in 2003. Harris was appointed Attorney General of California in 2010, and then re-elected in 2014. Harris was the junior United States Senate from California from 2017-2021. Harris defeated Loretta Martinez in 2016's Senate election to become the second African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. She was a senator and advocated for healthcare reform and federal cannabis de-scheduling. She also advocated for the possibility of citizenship for immigrants without a legal status, the DREAM Act, a ban against assault weapons, as well as progressive tax reform. Her pointed questioning of Trump officials during Senate hearings has earned her national attention, which included the second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, who was charged with sexual assault.
