Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran is an American businesswoman from America. The Corcoran Group, an NYC-based real estate brokerage was established by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran then exited the company. Corcoran is one of ABC's original Shark investors, has been a part of each episode of Shark Tank. In February 2020 Corcoran was involved in 53 deals, the biggest being a $350,000 investment which was able to cover 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the youngest of 10 children in a working class Irish-Catholic family. Florence Corcoran's mother was a household worker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. his father was a multi-talented employee throughout Corcoran's early years. Sometimes, her family depended on free food delivery from a local, friendly grocery store. Corcoran is still able to remember her father as someone who drank often and treated her mother with disrespect. Corcoran struggled at school, and eventually discovered that she was dyslexic. Corcoran was educated in a Catholic elementary school and then enrolled in high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. After failing several classes during her first year of high school, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School, where she was a D-student when she graduated.
